Meet 13 Miles Champion, Nathan Killam: Professional Triathlete, Firefighter, and Peanut Butter Addict
We first met Nathan Killam in 2014 and
were immediately struck by his dedication to the sport of triathlon. More significantly, Nathan became the face we always look forward to seeing whenever we are at a race in which he is competing.

In His Own Words:
In 2004, I was weighing in at 210 lbs, surviving on a diet consisting mainly of fast food. I was unhealthy and constantly plagued by sickness.
Since an early age, a dream of mine was to become a fire fighter, and I realized that would never be possible if I continued down this path. After completely reconstructing my diet, I also made the gym part of my routine, running on the treadmill and lifting weights 3-4 times a week.
In 2007 I broke my tailbone snowboarding, which forced me to learn to swim to get any exercise. The following summer, after only a handful of pool swims, and a few months of cycling under my belt, I won my first triathlon, and was immediately hooked.
That race sparked a love and passion for the sport, one that continues to grow each and every day.
I've been racing for 10 years now, with many top 5 Ironman and Challenge finishes, and I continue to strive for consistently better results year on year, all while working for the last 7 years as a full-time fire fighter.
